Spreading Christmas Love: Casa de Misericordia Welcomes Killam Organization Participation For Over a Decade of Giving

Laredo, TX – For over a decade, Casa de Misericordia has welcomed participation by the Killam organization to bring comfort and joy through the non-profit. Since 2012, the Killam family and organization have made the holidays brighter by donating toys, gifts, and other fun goodies to Casa de Misericordia. Over the last decade, Casa de Misericordia has positively impacted over 800 kids with Killam’s participation.

Casa de Misericordia, established to offer a haven for victims of domestic violence, plays a vital role in Laredo. With the leadership of Sister Rosemary, the shelter has become a cornerstone of hope, providing not only safety but also access to critical resources such as counseling, legal aid, and job training. It serves as a shining example of community resilience and collaboration to empower women and children.

Each holiday season, the Killam team comes together to collect and contribute items. This effort, born from a shared belief in the importance of nurturing family and a strong community, exemplifies Killam’s mission.

During the holidays, the need for emotional and tangible support becomes even greater. This December, 83 children will be presented with new toys, games, bikes, and fun treats to help bring them cheer. The wish list is organized by Casa de Misericordia with the families to ensure the gifts are age appropriate and that they are close to what the child wished for.

“Casa de Misericordia is an important institution in our community that supports women and children in particularly vulnerable circumstances. We are proud to support this organization because of the role it plays to help people rebuild their lives and offer a safe and caring place,” said Mr. Cliffe Killam, President and CEO of Killam Development. “For the children at Casa, receiving these gifts can bring moments of joy and remind them that they are cared for and supported. It’s a privilege for us to contribute, and we are thankful for the service that Casa de Misericordia team fulfills. Furthermore, we encourage other businesses and civic leaders to support this institution.”

Killam continued to say, “Every toy and gift are a symbol of hope and joy, reinforcing the moral belief and Christmas spirit that every child deserves love and a safe place to be with their family.”

Killam and the organization strongly encourage other civic minded citizens and businesses to consider giving back to Casa de Misericordia, or other local non-profit organization, to bring more compassion and support to Laredo, Texas.

The partnership reflects a broader commitment by Killam Development to support local causes, as seen in its longstanding engagement with civic issues, higher education, the arts, and economic growth initiatives. This dedication ensures a future where every family in South Texas has the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Killam Development is proud to stand alongside Sister Rosemary and the Casa de Misericordia team in making a meaningful impact. “I am proud of my colleagues for leading by example and giving back to the community that we all love so much,” stated Killam. By supporting Casa de Misericordia, Killam continues to live out their values of integrity, compassion, and community leadership.
